ReMaking Microsoft into a Design Powerhouse

By Don Burnett

A lot of people so far have only seen Microsoft and it’s resources for programmers and think that it’s not focused on the segment of the software market focused on design. Well a man by the name of Forest Key is about to prove them wrong, and by doing so give Adobe the first major competition that it has had in years.

Key is the director of product management for Microsoft’s new “Expression” line of design tools. Mr Key brings experience most recently from Macromedia.

Macromedia if you have been in a cave somewhere is now a business unit of Adobe (post merger). I just found a great article in E-Week about Mr. Key and some other folks and what they are bringing to Microsoft. I am very excited about this new unit inside of Microsoft because it shows a new commitment and a encouraging new direction.

Anyway if you are interested in finding out more check out this article in E-Week.
